Grading committee meets twice a year, in January and May, to officially go through the referee assessments and reassign the referee grading which is link to league levels. The grading of the referee indicates the highest level of game to which the referee would normally be appointed.

The referee performance and grading committee (RPC) may, under the rules of the society, allocate a new grade to a referee which will be confirmed at the next grading committee meeting. RPC may also take the decision to appoint a referee to a grade above their level when they feel that it is appropriate to do so.
