What happens when disputes arise over ground conditions? Answers to FAQs
  • The ground conditions are poor, but both teams wish to play
  • Start the match, but be prepared to call it off if it is dangerous.
  • The conditions are reasonable, but one team does not wish to play?
  • If the side that does not want to play, say it is unsafe, then do not play. However it is recommended that the question is asked if it is not stated explicitly.
  • The conditions are reasonable, but neither side wishes to play?
  • Once again the question of safety has to be raised, however, practicality dictates, if both teams do not want to play there is little the referee can do about it.
  • Who is responsible for making the decision to play?
  • The two Captains, but when there is disagreement the Referee should decide. However if the question of safety is raised by either team, it is not advisable to play.
