Who should be………..
The recipient of the newly endowed Terry Stephenson Trophy? Refsoc has a few ideas that the Committee might like to consider and, further more, they do as much for the Society as anyone we know. Refsoc refers to the wives of certain members of the Society who field telephone calls and in some cases do the work their spouses/partners are supposed to be undertaking. We make two nominations.

Barbara Shorney
Without Barbara, Malcolm would be completely lost, he would be unable to do a thing where computers and technology are concerned. The Shorneys have been on the internet for more than two years and it sad to report that last month Malcolm proudly announced that he had composed and sent an e-mail all by himself. When asked why he had undertaken this momentous task, his reply was that, "Barbara was away, so I had to". Barbara had left complete written instructions as to how to achieve this task. Since that time he has reverted to making Barbara do all the downloading of e-mails and when he writes an article for Refsoc or for any other reason, Barbara has to type it whilst he hovers over her like some vulture waiting for a meal. Barbara Shorney our  first nomination.

Edna Fox
Edna is the second of our nominations. Edna is the wife of Jim Fox, the Society's Re-appointments Secretary  and is the lady who generally answers the phone when members call about a cancellation, or in search of another match. It is rumoured and we believe it to be true, that Edna knows more about the workings of the re-appointments system  than Jim will ever know. It is she and not Jim, who does all the work, whilst Jim basks in the reflected glory as all and sundry tell him what a great job he is doing.
